LABDANUM

Harvested from the cistus shrub found in the Mediterranean region, the Labdanum resin, isolated by solvent extraction is a perfumery ingredient with a complex personality. The note’s facets are playfully confusing, alternating from warm to comfortably cool, with an impressive richness and smoky hints, almost like burnt caramel. As the sweetness emerges, the Labdanum resinoid strikes the senses with a balsamic, semi-sour and dry stream, admittedly heavy and thick. Labdanum is a sophisticated note with all its features constantly complimenting one another, the dryness endorsing the ambergris-like character, which is reminiscent of a soft ocean breeze or a piece of old wood found on the beach. Many modern oriental fragrances bring into play the deep and powerful nature of this lovely, warming and stimulating scent.
