Ever since Salma Hayek appeared as Frida Kahlo in 2002 with a strong eyebrow line which, at the time, seemed to be extravagantly thick and unattractive, with that characteristic unibrow on the nose bridge, the trends on shaping the eyebrows have changed. The ultra thin eyebrows, almost like a pencil line, and the frequent plucking have long been forgotten and women are gradually trying to get richer eyebrows. The latest trends are challenging make-up artists and estheticians to achieve thicker shapes and more natural looks that will compliment the face structure and add a mysterious glow on women’s look.
Worldwide, celebrities appeared on screen with elegantly strong eyebrows and the cosmetics industry quickly flooded with numerous new products aiming on the new fashion craze for better and more sophisticated eyebrow shapes. Eyebrow pencils, colored eyebrow mascaras, thin brushes designed specifically for the hair crowning our eyes, even permanent cosmetic tattoos have all joined the battle, providing us with a plethora of methods to help create the perfect look. Beauty artists and beauty bloggers are posting videos and articles on how to choose the right style according to the eye size, the nose shape, even the cheekbone projection, and suddenly we all became eyebrow maniacs.
Among all these innovative products we got acquainted with, an ancient formula was reintroduced, which may sound really dramatic, but it simply is a two step process with a very simple everyday ingredient, castor oil. Castor oil was known in the ancient times and widely used by the Egyptians who coated their skin with it, to moisturize it and sooth it after the long hot and dry periods. This inexpensive very thick oil, full of fatty acids, has the ability to slowly penetrate the skin and hair follicles, contributing all its beneficial effects. Modern studies show that castor oil is a great, natural skin moisturizer which also helps improve the hair’s strength and increase its volume.
The two step process mentioned above is quite simple:
1.Buy castor oil
2.Apply on clean skin every night.
You can apply it with a cotton bud or an old, cleaned mascara brush, the only thing you need to be careful with is the amount, don’t use too much because due to its thickness it can be very greasy and hard to remove. Allow the “treatment” a period of 2 to 4 months so that a hair growth cycle is completed. Castor oil is also considered to be effective on the eyelashes, so, why not give it a try?
